The Maui County Department of Agriculture Charter Amendment was  grassroots effort to support a sustainable regional system for Maui County. The primary purpose and intent of the creation of a county level Department of Agriculture is to provide advocacy and help our farmers, small businesses, community and also to help our forestry and aquaculture sectors.

 

On June 16th, at the GET committee, Chair Shane Sinenci hosted a meeting to discuss food security in Maui county. Maui based nonprofit Common Ground Collective presented a very thorough presentation that encapsulates current limitations and amazing opportunities that are possible in Maui County.
