Over the last year the County of Maui Department of Agriculture Community Impact Working Group has been meeting twice monthly to research and draft proposed legislation to further define the roles and responsibilities for the soon to be established Department of Agriculture (July 2022). The group is comprised solely of resident volunteers that are heavily involved in the agriculture sector. Through our work and various community surveys we have worked to help create proposed Maui County Code legislation that will be presented to the Maui County Council. Below are the proposal highlights that were put forward by the group and voted upon by the community via community surveys. We have posted the highlights to keep the community informed and involved throughout this process. We feel that an informed and engaged community create the most beneficial changes in government and we mahalo you for your interest.
